The BC Law Society says that Amanda Jane Rose misappropriated funds in amounts ranging from $ 8,470.45 to $ 67,718.25.
The society says Rose deposited the funds into a general account rather than a trust account. You would then transfer trust funds to your personal account and withdraw funds without your client’s consent or knowledge.
It billed clients twice and used trust funds to cover operating expenses, according to the company. It failed to eliminate 64 trust fund shortages and did not report the shortage, the society said in a press release Wednesday.
Rose also opened and operated a trust account without the knowledge of her supervising attorney and practiced law when she was suspended.
Rose has admitted to professional misconduct and has agreed not to practice law in Canada for 15 years.
