Former Edmonton Public Schools Trustee Michael Janz has been elected City Councilor in Ward Papastew.
Janz won a big victory over the other six candidates in Monday’s civic elections. The district was openly contested after its two prospective incumbents, Ben Henderson and Michael Walters, decided not to seek reelection this year.
Speaking in front of his campaign office at the Sentinel Business Center, located at 9920 63 Ave., Janz said he was “deeply and deeply honored” to have the trust of voters once again.
“Eleven years ago I was first elected, to this day, as the public school administrator for this community and this campaign really felt like a family reunion,” Janz said.
Janz said his first priority will be meeting with the other city councilors and building relationships with them.
“That’s the same thing I did on the school board when we had a new term and new fellow trustees, you would always sit down, find common ground, discover how we can work together and get results for our community.”
