Shane Potvin, president of the BIA, said the first annual Ford City Flicker Holiday Stroll and Vote Decorating Contest is meant to give people a reason to stop by and see the holiday decorations and lights.

“We had a big change this year,” Potvin said. “I think that in the past year we had 10 businesses open in the BIA, so we are reaching that tipping point.

“Just to bring people together, to bring businesses together, to have a reason for people to come to the neighborhoods.”

The lights and festive decorations have brought a new vitality to the neighborhood, Potvin said.

“It just brings a whole new and refreshed feel to the neighborhood.”

The Ford City BIA is also asking visitors to vote for their favorite display by visiting fordcity.ca/flicker .

Voting is open until December 31.

The winning company will receive a prize and, of course, bragging rights, while one voter will be chosen to receive a Christmas gift package from Ford City. Winners will be announced in January.
