Five construction companies participate in the tender for Puente Nichupté


Cancun, QR. Five large construction companies are participating in the tender for the Nichupté Bridge, which will be built over the lagoon that extends through the Cancun hotel zone.

The companies are ICA Construcciones, Mota-Engil México, Constructora Makro, Calzada Construcciones, Gami Ingeniería, according to the public documents of the contest for the assignment of this work for an amount of 5,580 million pesos.

Said amount is requested by the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT) from the Ministry of Finance, through the portfolio of investment projects.

The five companies participated in the clarification meetings that are part of the public bidding process launched by the SICT since April 5 on Compranet.

ICA, through a subsidiary called Controller of Infrastructure Operations, presented in 2019 an unsolicited proposal to the government of Quintana Roo to have an advantage in the bidding process, when the bridge was intended to be financed under a public association scheme. -private.

At the beginning of 2022, the Mexican government announced that it would participate in the financing of this work with public resources in its entirety, in exchange for the donation of land owned by the government of Quintana Roo in Tulum to complement the so-called Jaguar Park, which It will be a nature reserve surrounded by a perimeter fence, according to President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

Despite the fact that the bidding contest to designate the winning company for the execution of the work will conclude on May 16, the bridge is still in the process of environmental evaluation, that is, it still does not have the authorization by part of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (Semarnat).

In fact, between April 6 and May 9, the public consultation organized by Semarnat will be held as part of the environmental evaluation procedure that will determine whether or not the project is viable in environmental terms.

The work includes a two-lane road bridge, with shoulders and a bicycle path, 8.8 kilometers long that crosses the Nichupté lagoon, from the junction that connects with the Kabah road distributor, where Bonampak avenues, Rodrigo Gómez avenue and Luis Donaldo Colosio boulevard converge. , up to kilometer 13 of Kukulcán Boulevard.
