Fireworks in Montreal: the Jacques-Cartier bridge closed on Saturday evening

The Jacques-Cartier Bridge will be closed in both directions on Saturday evening when the fireworks return to Montreal, which will be held twice a week until August 3.

The complete closure of the bridge will be in effect from 8:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., while only pedestrians will be able to access it during the same period.

The access ramps will also be inaccessible as of 8 p.m., but access will be maintained for emergency services, advised the company Ponts Jacques-Cartier et Champlain.

“In an effort to ensure a smoke-free environment for all spectators, smoking is now prohibited on deck during fireworks except in designated areas,” it added.

In addition to Saturday’s opening under the theme “I remember”, the fireworks will be held for eight sessions, from July 2 to August 3, each time honoring a country.

Mexico, Hungary, Italy, Croatia and England will be honored in particular this year, while the last session will be devoted to the Finale des étoiles Loto-Québec.
