Through a series of tweets that began around 1:30 pm on Saturday, the fire department said the fire went from a one-alarm blaze to a four-alarm fire in less than an hour. It also advised residents in the area it might might have to cut power to help extinguish the fire.

A spokesperson for the fire department said the fire began behind one building and quickly spread to three other three-storey buildings, but no one was injured. He also said more than 100 firefighters were called in to fight the blaze.

A five-alarm fire is the most serious category used by the fire department and it means all available resources are required to fight it.
