Fire in the early afternoon at Waterloo Street house considered suspicious by London police – London | The Canadian News

London police treat a fire Wednesday night in the city’s SoHo neighborhood as a suspect.

Emergency crews responded to the scene at 231 Waterloo St. just south of Horton Street around 6:30 p.m. for a fire in a functioning structure.

Few details have been released, however, in a tweet late Wednesday, London firefighters said they were able to get the fire under control with no injuries being reported.

The damage to the building was extensive. An estimate of the damage was not immediately available. It is unclear if the building was occupied at the time. A large green garbage container could be seen at the entrance of the house.

In a statement late Thursday morning, police said the fire had been considered suspicious in nature, adding that it was being investigated by police in conjunction with the Ontario fire marshal’s office.
