Federal judge accepts Bronco protection procedure

The Second District Judge in Criminal Matters in Nuevo León, Ileana Guadalupe Eng Niño, admitted for processing an amparo requested by the former governor of Nuevo León, Jaime Rodríguez Calderón el Bronco, against his arrest and preventive detention.

The appeal was requested last Monday by the defense of Rodríguez Calderón under procedure 221/2022; You have three days to ratify it.

An incidental hearing will be held on March 29 to determine if a suspension is granted.

The former governor of Nuevo León has an amparo granted by the First District Judge in Criminal Matters in Nuevo León, Víctor Hugo Alejo Guerrero, which guarantees him not to be held incommunicado.

On March 15, the former presidential candidate and former independent governor of Nuevo León was admitted to the Apodaca prison accused of crimes of embezzlement, damage to state and coalition assets with the purpose of collecting signatures of support to achieve registration as a candidate for the Presidency in 2018.

The Specialized Prosecutor for Electoral Crimes of Nuevo León, headed by Javier Garza y ​​Garza, obtained an arrest warrant against the first independent governor of the country, based on a complaint filed in 2018 by the then senator of Movimiento Ciudadano and current governor of Nuevo León, Samuel García, who denounced that 595 public servants of the government of Rodríguez Calderón collected signatures during working hours.

Jaime Rodríguez Calderón was arrested when he was leaving his ranch in the General de Terán municipality, and was later transferred to the Apodaca prison where he remains a prisoner.

It should be noted that on June 12, 2020, by order of the Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Power of the Federation (TEPJF), the Congress of Nuevo León approved a public reprimand and a fine of 317,000 pesos to Jaime Rodríguez Calderón for collecting signatures among officials to obtain the independent candidacy for the Presidency in 2018.
