U.S announced on Monday an agreement with Japan to authorize a fee steel imports japanese duty-free customsallowing a partial resolution of a dispute inherited from the presidency of donald trump.
“This agreement will reinforce the steel industry American and will ensure that your workforce remain competitive, offering a better access to steel less costly and resolving greater friction between U.S Y Japanone of our most important allies,” said Secretary of Commerce, Gina Raimondoit’s a statement.
The agreement, however, does not concern Japanese aluminum, which will continue to be subject to punitive customs duties.
The deal we reached will strengthen America’s steel industry and ensure its workforce stays competitive, while also providing more access to steel and addressing a major irritant between ���� and ����, one of our most important allies.
