English school board elections: Feldman and Saunders win seats

Incumbent Julien Feldman was re-elected to the English Montreal School Board council on Sunday, while Allison Saunders won a board seat from Lester B. Pearson.

Feldman, who has sat on the EMSB’s board for more than a decade, garnered 477 votes out of 891 votes cast in District 3, which covers Westmount, the Midwest and the Sud-Ouest district. Challenger Irwin Rapoport received 250 votes, while Thomas Rolain had 164. There were four rejected ballots. Turnout was only 9.8 percent of the 9,112 registered voters.

The LBPSB announced Saunders, currently a co-opted commissioner, as the winner in District 4, which covers most of Pointe-Claire between Highways 40 and 20, but did not immediately announce vote totals for the two candidates. Saunders was being challenged by Joël Silver.

The other election that took place was for School Board President Sir Wilfrid Laurier, which covered Laval, Laurentians and Lanaudière. Noemia Onofre De Lima and Paolo Galati disputed that seat.
