In addition, with its development, it will be possible to unite the east with the west of Mexico City.

“It is a unique work in the world, it is a second floor where only trolleybuses will be able to circulate and most of them articulated; we are talking about a work that is going to have 8 kilometers in total, which is going at this moment of the Autonomous University of Mexico City until the Constitution of 1917”, he said, adding that they benefit a total of 250,000 inhabitants.

Regarding how much the total investment of the project amounts to, the Secretary of Works and Services of the city, Jesús Antonio Esteva Medina, explained that it amounts to 2,900 million pesos.

Sheinbaum Pardo indicated that the cost of the toll has already been considered, which could be the same cost as the Collective Transportation System (STC) Metrowhich is five pesos.

“We are evaluating the cost, it will probably have the same cost as the city’s Metro”, he stressed.

In addition, he reported that there is an agreement for the minibus operators to become part of the Elevated Trolleybus, for which 200 units will be scrapped.

“We are inviting, since we already have an agreement, all the minibuses that circulate in Ermita to be part of the Elevated Trolleybus; the Elevated Trolleybus is going to work like the Metrobus, not only is it going to have an Electric Transport System, but there is also a company that made up all the microbuses that circulate through Ermita (…) It is another innovation that we are doing, in total , there are going to be about 100 trolleybuses that are going to be circulating and scrapping (…) there are more than 200 microbuses”, he deepened.

More operations

Sheinbaum Pardo announced that more actions are coming for this means of transport, two loops will be built for the Elevated Trolleybus and thus communicate this means of transport to Mixcoac and have one more connection to Santa Martha Acatitla.

In this regard, Esteva Medina reported that on Thursday the bidding conditions for the two loops will be published and with this, extend their connection to Mixcoac.

Sheinbaum Pardo pointed out that this is also added to the fact that this year the country’s capital will soon begin construction of the Chalco-Santa Martha Elevated Trolleybus, for the section that goes from the Autonomous University of Mexico City (UACM) to Santa Marta Acatitla. .

The leader of the local Executive pointed out that the State of Mexico also participates in this project; The Mexican entity is currently building the Chalco-Santa Martha Acatitla section.

It is estimated that in two or three weeks the tender will go out for the connection from the UACM to Santa Martha Acatitla.
