The efforts of Latin America and the Caribbean to confront phenomena of corruption and dishonesty are often minimized or compared in an unfavorable way with respect to the actions carried out in other regions of the world, affirmed Marcelo Ebrard Casaubón.
At the inauguration of the V Meeting of Ministers, Ministers and High Authorities for the Prevention and Fight against Corruption of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (Celac), the Secretary of Foreign Relations announced that the agreements reached during the meeting will be followed up. .
The issue of corruption, he said, is among the priorities to be addressed since it is part of the work program approved two years ago.
At the meeting, the Specialized Group for the Prevention and Fight against Corruption (GEPLC) was formally installed, which will have technical representatives from each of the members and will meet periodically to fulfill the objectives, commitments and agreements.
