Edomex will attract 30,000 million pesos of private capital in less than a year and a half

The Council of Chambers and Business Associations of the State of Mexico (Concaem) announced that in less than 18 months an investment portfolio of close to 30,000 million pesos will be deployed in the Mexican territory.

The president of the organization, Gilberto Sauza Martínez, explained that as a result of a coordination process with the state authority, this week it was authorized to develop 12 investment projects aimed at industrial and logistic lines that total 29,795 million pesos, anticipating generating 29,900 jobs.

The areas that will receive capital from the Private Initiative (IP) are Huehuetoca, Teoloyucan, Tepotzotlán, Cuautitlán, Cuautitlán Izcalli, Tlalnepantla, Naucalpan, Lerma and Toluca.

“There are 12 investment projects that will be carried out in Mexican territory by this council. Among the investment projects that Concaem will carry out are the Industrial and Logistics Parks of Huehuetoca, Teoloyucan, Tepotzotlán, Toluca, Cuautitlán Izcalli, Naucalpan and Lerma, as well as Logistics Centers in Cuautitlán, Lerma, Tlalnepantla and Cuautitlán Izcalli”, he deepened.

The businessman reiterated that this investment is also possible thanks to the facilities generated within the current economic reactivation plan of the State of Mexico, which seeks to contain the closure of businesses and the loss of jobs, derived from the health crisis by Covid-19.

“I recognize the commitment of Governor Alfredo Del Mazo, thanks to his leadership, the State of Mexico was able to deal with the health crisis in a good way (…) Contain the closure of economic units, maintain social and labor peace, promote investment, generate jobs, looking for security, is a strenuous mission, but today we recognize that he has achieved it,” he said.

Gilberto Sauza assured that the State of Mexico is the best destination to invest in the country, since in addition to its competitive advantages (such as infrastructure and economic units), it has one of the largest populations of productive age.

This investment is preceded by the one made in 2021, when the directors who are part of Concaem (which belong to companies such as Prologis, Heineken, ALPLA, Dogo, Grupo Mahle, Ford and Toyota) allocated more than 6,500 million pesos to the Mexican territory and that meant the generation of more than 4,000 direct jobs.

During the presentation of projects, Alfredo Del Mazo stressed that the strategy of facilitating the opening of businesses is followed, as well as working “closely with businessmen” to promote economic development.

He explained that within the reactivation plan they have prioritized the demand of businessmen to speed up the procedures for opening businesses.

For this reason, he reported that a regulatory improvement was developed, the laws and the organic structure of the state government were modified, and work groups were established with the IP.

The president stressed that this investment in industrial and logistics matters is also related to the start of operations at the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA), since the terminal expands the export and import capacity by air and returns to other attractive areas of Mexico.
