Around 9:38 pm on Thursday, police responded to a report of an assault with a weapon near 126 Street and 152 Avenue. The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) said upon arrival, officers located a 34-year-old with what appeared to be “life-threatening” injuries.

The victim was transported to hospital by EMS where he is in stable condition.

The police investigation found the victim was a witness to a nearby theft and tried to interview and stop two suspects — a male and a female. Police said the male suspect reportedly stabbed the victim and fled the scene.

Police are searching for the male suspect who is described as an Indigenous man who was wearing a black backward baseball hat, dark red-hooded jacket with a white and black logo on the back, white t-shirt and white running shoes, police said.

Anyone with information about the incident or who may recognize the suspect is asked to call the EPS at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers.
