According to a witness, multiple shots were heard outside the Ertale bar on 118 Avenue near 125 Street around 2:40 am Saturday.

A woman who was in the bar at some time said the establishment had just turned on all its lights around 2:30 am, in an effort to get patrons to leave. About 10 minutes later, loud bangs were heard on the street outside, said the woman, who declined to give her name to her.

She said the patrons and staff remaining in the bar all dropped to the floor and began trying to hide.

“I just heard gunshots, so I had to save my life,” she said.

Police showed up about six minutes later, she said, adding that she didn’t immediately see any injured people or bodies in the area.

As of noon on Saturday, there was still a heavy police presence in the area, and officers could be seen canvassing homes in the neighborhood.

EPS issued a statement early Saturday with only minor details that said police had closed 118 Avenue between 124 Street and 127 Street to investigate an incident in the area.
