On Wednesday at about 9:15 pm, a 39-year-old man was with a group of people at the Central LRT Station when he was approached by another man with a group of women.

Police said in a Friday news release that an altercation occurred between the two groups, and the 39-year-old was stabbed. He then ran toward 101 Street, but the suspect caught up with him and allegedly stabbed him again.

The victim was able to get back to the LRT station where police and emergency medical services found him. He was treated and transported to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police arrested Kody Levaughn Shortneck, 27, and charged him with an aggravated assault, possession of an offensive weapon dangerous to the public, failure to comply with a probation order, and three counts of possession of a controlled substance.
