Drug trafficking: nearly $5 million in doses of GHB seized

An anti-drug operation carried out since Tuesday in Terrebonne and Saint-Jérôme resulted in the seizure of nearly 250,000 doses of GHB, commonly known as the “date-rape drug”, representing a market value of nearly $5 million on the black market.

In addition to the 1,230 liters of GHB, the police seized equipment used in the production of this drug, a prohibited firearm and approximately $300,000, while in Longueuil the authorities seized more than 375 liters of GHB .

The crackdown by the Regional Mixed Squad (ERM) Rive-Nord also led to the arrest of three individuals, including Sébastien Turcotte, who appeared at the Laval courthouse on Wednesday for obstruction of justice.

According to elements of the investigation started in January and which is still in progress, the dismantled network is behind the supply of GHB to a network of resellers probably active in the territory of Longueuil.

Recall that the Longueuil agglomeration police service (SPAL) announced on Tuesday the arrest of eight individuals after a dozen searches in Longueuil, Montreal, Mascouche and Sherrington.
