Three people are dead, including two pedestrians, following a crash near the city’s waterfront late Thursday afternoon.
Toronto Police said the crash happened at about 5:30 pm at Lake Shore Blvd. W. and Superior Ave. in Mimico.
According to police, a white SUV was traveling east on Lake Shore Blvd. at a high rate of speed and ran through a red light before hitting two pedestrians crossing the intersection and finally colliding with a parked flatbed truck.
Emergency crews arrived on scene to find bystanders performing life-saving measures on the driver and the pedestrians who were without vital signs.
All three were later pronounced dead.
Area roads were closed and the investigation is ongoing.
