No suspect information has been released.

“Our investigators from homicide now have carriage of the investigation,” said Peel Regional Police spokesperson Charles Payette.

“We have limited information on the suspect at this time. We are appealing to anyone who would have video footage, dashcam footage, of the incident, to contact our investigators.”

Payette said one man died at the scene of the shooting, while the second passed away after being rushed to a hospital.

“Our officers are canvassing and asking witnesses to come forward. We will be reviewing video footage, and we will explore and investigate all leads.”

Richard Marshall, manager of the Chandni Convention Centre, praised his security personnel for keeping any violence outside the venue.

“We have great security,” Marshall told CP24.

“So there were 20 guys on the floor, and there were 10 guys searching people. So I give my security a great, great shout out because they had everybody searched, and everybody was ushered in, and people were trying to get back inside after the shooting happened. They were trying to rush inside, run for safety right?”

We apologize, but this video has failed to load.

Marshall said the venue was hosting about 150 people, whom he described as “great business people” in “suits and ties.”

He added there are dozens of surveillance cameras around the convention center and footage has been turned over to police.
