DeSantis bill, fight with Disney gets support from Evangelical leader

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has at least one hardline Christian on his side in the politician’s battle with Disney, according to the dailymail.com.

Evangelical pastor Franklin Graham, the son of Billy Graham, told his 10 million Facebook followers he’s glad Disney’s finances were taking a beating after the corporation came out against DeSantis’ so-called “Don’t Say Gay” law.

“What has happened at Disney is moral failure,” said Graham. “The morals of the corporate leadership of Disney today are in the gutter, and they want to redefine family counter to God’s original design and flaunt sin.”

Graham, whose Facebook post included photos of rainbow-laden Disney pride items for sale in a drugstore, said he was in Orlando for a fundraising event and urged visiting families to avoid Disney.

On Friday, DeSantis signed a new law that ends Disney’s power over its Orlando-based Walt Disney World Resort, which resulted after Disney came out against DeSantis’ so-called “Don’t Say Gay” bill.

The Parental Rights in Education Bill bans public school instruction on gender and sexuality between kindergarten and third grade.

As a result of the public row, Disney stocks have been hammered by about a third in recent weeks, and now sit at just $118.27 US (or $150.48 CAN) per share.
