Demonstration of angry hunters in France

At least 13,000 people demonstrated on Saturday morning in Mont-de-Marsan in southwestern France to defend traditional bird hunts and an “endangered rural world”.

In August, the Council of State ruled several hunting techniques contrary to the European “birds” directive of 2009.

But the French government is studying the possibility of re-authorizing some of its hunts, a reflection considered by conservationists as a gesture towards this highly courted electorate.
