The Cygnus cargo ship reached its goal on Monday: the international space station. Launched Saturday by an Antares rocket from a NASA center in Virginia, Cygnus was captured by a robotic arm in order to finalize its docking to the ISS.
On board, more than 3,800 kilos of equipment, various supplies to resupply astronauts, but also equipment intended for scientific experiments. It is the fortnight mission of this vessel carried out by Northrop Grumman. It is named after Katherine Johnson, the African-American mathematician from NASA portrayed in the movie “Hidden Figures”.
According to NASA, the capsule must remain in space until next May and will return to Earth loaded with waste from the Space Station.
