Cozumel maintains significant levels of recovery

Cancun, QR. Cozumel maintains an important cruise activity, which has increased month by month since last June 16, when it returned to receive ships after 15 months of total drought due to sanitary restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Currently, it already regularly receives ships from Norwegian Cruise Line, Carnival Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean, MSC and Disney Cruise Line, although it also has new additions.

Only for the first half of November it has already scheduled 41 berths, not counting the 137 it captured in the previous five months, which will add 178 in total and the possibility that by the end of the month it will exceed 200 in six months.

For this first fortnight of November, new boats are incorporated arriving on the island as The Word, Celebrity Millenium, Celebrity Reflection, The Camplein and Viking Star.

This means that the island is adding not only ships from the five main shipping companies that docked before the pandemic, but is also incorporating new companies such as the British one Virgin Voyages, subsidiary of the airline Virgin Atlantic, with your cruise Scarlet Lady; the american Viking Cruises, or even ships like The World, the so-called millionaires’ cruise that sails all year round with prices starting from $ 1,200 a night.

The forecast of state tourism officials establishes that Cozumel could close the year with around 400 cruise ships and one million passengers, based on the dynamic recovery of the island in the last five months. While in June of this year Cozumel captured only 4 ships, throughout the whole of July it closed with 14 berths, and by August the island captured 24 of the so-called floating hotels.

During September a total of 40 ships were reported, and in October it closed with 52, with which the island has maintained sustained growth, although it is difficult for it to add at least 200 more berths in December to meet official expectations.
