COVID-19: Peterborough area active laboratory-confirmed cases at 548; HKPR reported 373 – Peterborough | The Canadian News

Peterborough Public Health has reported 61 new laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19, but active laboratory-confirmed cases are still declining, according to data released Thursday afternoon.

The health unit’s COVID tracker, issued at 16:35, reported the following data for the jurisdiction of Peterborough, Peterborough County, Curve Lake First Nation and Hiawatha First Nation:

Active laboratory-confirmed cases: 548 of 569 were reported Wednesday. On Monday, 1 102 were reported. The Health Unit notes that the number of active cases reported is an “underestimation” due to changes in the availability of PCR tests effective on 31 December 2021.

Cumulative laboratory-confirmed cases: 4 618

Deaths: 41 – unchanged.

Cases in the hospital: 32, as of Thursday, according to the Peterborough Regional Health Center.

Cumulative cases in the hospital: 157 since the beginning of the pandemic – unchanged. They make up about 3.5 percent of all cases.

ICU recordings: 28 – another since Wednesday.

Resolved cases: 82 more since Wednesday. The 4,029 cumulative resolved cases account for approximately 87.2 percent of all laboratory-confirmed cases since the pandemic was declared.

Outbreaks: Two new outbreaks have been reported since Wednesday, both in unidentified community dwellings (No. 17 and No. 18). An outbreak at PRHC’s A5 inpatient unit has been resolved.

  • Lakefield Extension: Declared 22 Dec.

There have been 712 cases related to 96 outbreaks since the pandemic was declared – 327 cases in the past 30 days and 76 cases over the past seven days.

Haliburton, Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit

New laboratory-confirmed cases: 88 (41 in Northumberland County, 40 in City of Kawartha Lakes and seven in Haliburton County) over the past 24 hours

Active laboratory-confirmed cases: 373 – of 349 reported Wednesday

Deaths: 84 – unchanged from Monday. There have been 63 deaths reported in Kawarthas, 20 in Northumberland County and one in Haliburton County since the March 2020 pandemic was declared.

Cases in the hospital: 19 people are currently in hospital – unchanged from Wednesday. Eight of the cases are in an intensive care unit – another. There have been 147 cumulative cases in hospital since the pandemic was declared: 81 in the Kawarthas (four more), with 62 in Northumberland (another) and four in Haliburton County (unchanged). From Thursday afternoon, Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay reported nine hospitalized cases (three more) with seven identifying COVID-19 as the “primary cause of admission”.

Cumulative cases: 5,463 since the beginning of the pandemic.

Resolved cases: 5,019 – an additional 73 since Wednesday’s update. The settled cases make up about 92 percent of all cases.

  • Central East Correctional Center: Declared January 17th. Outbreaks appear to be exacerbated during multiple episodes, reports the health unit. An initial outbreak was declared on 4 January. The province Wednesday reported 28 cases among prisoners.
  • Transitional home shelter in Cobourg: Northumberland County – which runs the shelter – reported five cases on Tuesday: two customers and three staff.

  • Christian Horizons Site D in Cobourg: declared on 5 January.
  • Community Living Group Home – Warkworth: January 5 declared.
  • Case Manor Long Term Nursing Home in Bobcaygeon: Declared January 4th, the house reported Wednesday afternoon four active cases (less than four) – one resident and three staff members (less than four). There have been five resolved cases (one resident, seven staff members) since the outbreak began.
  • Central East Correctional Center in Lindsay: Declared 4 Jan.
  • Regency long-term care in Port Hope: Declared 4 Jan
  • Caressant Care Marystraat long-term care in Lindsay: January 2 declared with three staff positive cases. January 16 the house reported 22 active cases – seven residents and 15 staff. On January 14, the house reported two residents had died amid the outbreak.
  • Access to community service group home in Port Hope: Declared on 31 December 2021.
  • Warkworth Place long-term care in Warkworth: declared on 31 December 2021. Wednesday afternoon the house reported seven active cases – six residents and one staff member. All were fully vaccinated.
  • Caressant Care McLaughlin long-term care in Lindsay: Declared 30 December 2021. The home reported on January 16 17 active cases – 14 residents and three staff members. A resident’s death was also reported at the home. On January 18, the house did not report any new cases.
  • Hope Street Terrace long-term care in Port Hope: declared home on Wednesday 28 December 2021 five active cases reported – all staff (less than three) and no resident cases (less than eight). They were all fully vaccinated.
  • Golden Plow Lodge long-term care in Cobourg: Declared 26 December 2021, initially with two employee cases. The hostel reported on January 1 four additional staff members and one resident
  • Warkworth Institution: Declared December 21, 2021, the health unit initially reported 19 confirmed cases. Canada Correctional Service reported as of Jan. 19, there were 19 active cases among inmates, down from 65 who were reported two days earlier.
