Due to confinements, mobility restrictions and border closures in various countries and within Mexico, the Tourism sector it contracted significantly in 2020. Its total production fell 25.4% in relation to the previous year, a fall never seen before in records.
According to the Inegi Tourism Satellite Account, tourist services, recreational and cultural services, packaged, airlines, and nightclubs and bars were among the sectors most affected by the Covid-19 crisis.
