COVID-19: Ontario NDP Wants Mandatory Vaccine Policy for Provincial Legislature | The Canadian News

TORONTO – Ontario’s new Democrats want the COVID-19 vaccine to be mandatory for people entering the provincial legislature.

The leader of the opposition house, Peggy Sattler, wrote to her counterparts in other parties with her position on Friday.

She says Queen’s Park cannot afford to send “mixed messages” about the efficacy of the vaccine.

Sattler wants the group to sign a letter to the Speaker asking for a policy that restricts entry to people who are fully vaccinated or who have approved medical exemptions.

She says a policy that allows testing instead of vaccination is not acceptable.

Prime Minister Doug Ford has said that all members and candidates of the Progressive Conservative caucus must be vaccinated against the virus or demonstrate a medical exemption.
