Nova Scotia reported 20 new COVID-19 cases and 34 recoveries on Friday.

There are 12 cases in the Central Zone and eight cases in the North Zone.

“There is a cluster of cases in a community located in the North Zone, and there is also evidence of limited community outreach in Halifax and parts of northern Nova Scotia,” the province said in a statement.

On December 2, a school was notified of an exposure to COVID-19. A full list of schools with exhibitions can be found here.

As of Friday, Nova Scotia has 199 active cases of COVID-19. Of them, 13 people are in the hospital, including five in the ICU.

The National Immunization Advisory Committee now strongly recommends that adults age 50 and older be offered a COVID-19 booster shot, while those 18 to 49 years old may be offered a booster shot.

In a statement, the province said it is “prepared to act quickly to adopt its recommendations and will have more information on the implementation of Nova Scotia’s recommendations to share next week.”

There have been 98 cases of COVID-19 with an episode date between November 26 and December 2. From them:

  • 34 (34.7%) were fully vaccinated
  • 2 (2.0%) were partially vaccinated
  • 62 (63.3%) were not vaccinated.

There have been 6,683 cases between March 15 and December 2. From them:

  • 716 (10.7%) were fully vaccinated
  • 405 (6.1%) were partially vaccinated
  • 5,562 (83.2%) were not vaccinated.

There were 336 people hospitalized. Of those:

  • 22 (6.5%) were fully vaccinated
  • 33 (9.8%) were partially vaccinated
  • 281 (83.6%) were not vaccinated.

Forty-four people died. Of those:

  • 11 (25.0%) were fully vaccinated
  • 3 (6.8%) were partially vaccinated
  • 30 (68.2%) were not vaccinated.
