Covid-19: Mexico registers 12 new deaths and 271 confirmed cases in the last 24 hours


The Ministry of Health reported this Sunday 12 new deaths from Covid-19 reported in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths during the pandemic in Mexico to 324,129 deaths.

In the daily technical report on the progress of the epidemic in the country, it is detailed that the accumulated number of coronavirus infections is 5,733,785, after 271 new confirmed cases were registered.

Federal authorities estimate that there are around 4,450 active cases nationwide, that is, people who have presented symptoms of Covid-19 in the last 14 days.

The states that register the highest rate of active cases per 100,000 inhabitants are:

  • Mexico City
  • Aguascalientes
  • Baja California Sur
  • Yucatan
  • Colima
  • Quintana Roo
  • San Luis Potosi
  • Lower California
  • Queretaro
  • Veracruz

Regarding hospital capacity, the federal agency detailed that general beds for the care of patients with Covid-19 have an occupancy of 3%, while beds with ventilators register an occupancy of 1 percent.

Given the lower number of infections and hospitalizations, the government of Mexico City announced that as of Monday, April 25, some of the general measures against Covid-19 that were implemented in businesses, such as temperature taking and the use of sanitizing mats.

Vaccination against Covid-19 in Mexico

The federal government explained that at the cutoff on Saturday, April 23, the application of 311,470 vaccines against the coronavirus was reported, for a total of 198,353,262 doses supplied nationwide.
