Covid-19 in Mexico: SSa reports 5 new deaths and 140 confirmed cases in the last 24 hours


The number of deaths due to Covid-19 in Mexico amounted to 324,134 deaths, after five new deaths from this disease were reported this Monday, according to data from the Ministry of Health.

The federal agency detailed that in the last 24 hours, 140 confirmed cases of Covid-19 were reported, so the accumulated number of people infected with the coronavirus increased to 5,733,925 cases since the pandemic began in the country.

According to the daily technical report on the progress of the epidemic at the national level, the federal authorities estimate that at the national level there are around 4,034 active casesthat is, people who have presented symptoms of Covid-19 in the last 14 days.

This Monday the Mexico City eliminated some of the general sanitary measures to control the Covid-19 pandemic in businesses, given the reduction in infections and hospitalizations in the capital. Businesses will be able to stop taking the temperature of their customers as a requirement to access their establishments, in addition to the fact that they will no longer have to place sanitizing mats.

Meanwhile, the government of Lower California eliminated the mandatory use of face masks both in open and closed places.

“The use of face masks in closed spaces will be optional. There will no longer be an obligation to use it in any public space, whether open or closed, ”said the Governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, in a video published over the weekend through her social networks.

Vaccination against Covid-19 in Mexico

The federal government reported that at the cutoff on Sunday, April 24, 157,958 vaccines against the coronavirus were supplied, so the total doses applied amounted to 198,511,220 biologicals since the vaccination plan against this disease began in December 2020.

The Ministry of Health explained that they have been inoculated against the Covid-19 to 85 million 797,486 people.

Meanwhile, the booster dose has been applied to 45,134,105 people over the age of 18, “which represents an advance of 56% of the target population,” the federal agency detailed in a statement.
