With the Omicron variant spreading rapidly in the province of Alberta, Prime Minister Jason Kenney said Tuesday that his government is assessing the situation and that the decision whether or not to stop classroom learning could be made later this week. Kenney said that given the increase in cases with Omicron, “the outbreak protocols that we have had to date are likely to become very outdated very quickly and that many teachers and staff may be isolated.”
