According to information obtained by TVA Nouvelles, 125,000 doses of Moderna have expired for two days and this figure could continue to climb.

Remember that 107,000 doses have been destroyed since the start of the pandemic, all vaccines combined.

At the beginning of June, TVA Nouvelles learned that nearly a million doses, whose expiry date is approaching, could be destroyed by the end of the summer.

The costs incurred by the loss of these doses of vaccine remain unknown.

“We have not disclosed more details in order to protect our negotiating position and sensitive commercial information on prices,” reacted the office of Filomena Tassi, Minister of Public Services and Supply, in a press release.

In Quebec, Health Minister Christian Dubé responded in the same way as two weeks ago.

“We told the federal government that, if we ever had vaccines that were about to expire, we could send them some precisely because we want to keep a good inventory,” Mr. Dubé said at the time.
