Alberta Municipalities is a group representing Alberta’s summer cities, towns and villages. The group works together to advocate for the needs of municipalities with the provincial government, and also provides training and support to councilors and administrators.

“It’s really about all of Alberta’s urban municipalities working together to better serve our residents,” Bressey said in an interview with DHT in October.

Bressey believes that it is important that the City of Grande Prairie be represented on the board, because Alberta municipalities as an organization are a powerful advocacy voice in the province.

“We are Alberta’s economic engine and I believe it is important that our voice is heard in all provincial conversations,” said Bressey.

Bressey prevailed in a runoff for the job after the first vote ended in a tie with Airdrie Mayor Peter Brown.

Bressey had previously served on the municipal fiscal health task force for Alberta municipalities and, after that experience, felt the need to take on a larger role in the organization.

“We need a strong voice in Alberta to help us discover how we strengthen local government and how we make it work better for the residents we serve,” said Bressey.
