In a statement, an IHIT spokesperson said police were called to the school on the 3000-block of Glen Drive at 12:40 am on May 8.

“On arrival, first responders found a 29-year-old male suffering from stab wounds. Despite all efforts to revive him, the victim succumbed to his injuries,” the statement read.

Police have arrested a suspect but no charges have been laid.

“We can confirm this was an argument that turned into an altercation and stabbing. This was an isolated incident and the Glen Elementary community is not at risk,” the statement read.

“Although still early in the investigation, homicide investigators confirm that this was an isolated incident and has no connection to gangs.”

IHIT, the Coquitlam RCMP and the Integrated Forensic Identification Section are working to see if there were any other people involved in the fight.
