Convoy of freedom: the identity of the demonstrators kept secret

The vast majority of protesters arrested during demonstrations in Ottawa last month will remain anonymous and their legal fate will remain private according to the Windsor Star.

The police reportedly laid 393 charges against 122 people, for “assault, assault on a police officer, possession of a weapon and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle” according to the newspaper.

Those accused will remain largely anonymous. The newspaper reported that Postmedia this week requested the lists of names and charges from the Ottawa Police Service and the Ontario Ministry of Justice. None were provided.

A number of convoy organizers received extensive media coverage of their hearings, such as Tamara Lich, an Albertan released on Monday.

The fate of the vast majority, however, remains unknown.
