Concludes International Tianguis of Magical Towns


Cancun, QR. The First International Tianguis of Magical Towns, held at the International Convention Center of Barcelona, ​​Spain (CCIB), successfully concluded for Quintana Roo.

“After a great agenda, we have successfully returned from this promotional tour and with the recognition of the international market that will continue betting on the great destinations that we have. From the secretariat we will continue to be promoters of new market diversification strategies, seeking a fairer, more responsible and sustainable tourism development”, commented Bernardo Cueto Riestra, Secretary of Tourism of Quintana Roo.

This first international edition was attended by the 132 Magical Towns of Mexico, where 261 exhibitors participated, addressing more than 460 business meetings in total, with more than 70 buyers from Europe and Asia, as well as nine keynote speeches.

Within the International Tianguis, the Gastronomic Pavilion, the exhibition and sale of handicrafts were also held, where Bacalar and Tulum were two of the Magical Towns with a great participation.

Cueto Riestra also reported that the Magical Towns of Bacalar and Chignahuapan, Puebla, signed a twinning agreement with the main objective of promoting the development of better tourism projects.

Isla Mujeres was awarded as a Pioneer Magical Town, a distinction it received on behalf of the 132 destinations in Mexico thanks to good practices within the tourism sector.

Likewise, the meeting to strengthen the tourist offer in Quintana Roo was held, where issues of infrastructure in destinations, air connectivity, migration, among others, were addressed; meeting attended by the Secretary of Federal Tourism, Miguel Torruco Marqués, and officials from Quintana Roo.

During the last day of the International Tianguis de Pueblos Mágicos, appointments were attended at the tourist promotion stands, talks were held on handicrafts by the municipality of Tulum; Bacalar also participated in the Showcooking where he highlighted the gastronomic offer that the Mexican Caribbean has, since the presentation on crafts, culture and tradition of Isla Mujeres was carried out.
