According to the Brantford Police Service, the investigation has been ongoing with the help of the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) since early 2021.

The Brantford Police Criminal Intelligence Unit led the case. Members of the unit identified a “local group of individuals” in the Brantford area believed to be involved in the importation of cocaine.

Investigators further believed that once cocaine had been smuggled into Canada, the same group of people was involved in drug trafficking and distribution in the Brantford area and surrounding regions.

In a statement issued Wednesday, the Brantford Police Service said its investigators learned of a transport truck that belonged to a company operating in Milton.

The December 4 seizure was probably the largest cocaine interception at Ambassador Bridge in recent memory, and one of the largest drug seizures ever disclosed by the Brantford Police Service, but not the largest amount of cocaine found by the CBSA.

Earlier this year, on June 15, the Canadian Border Services Agency reported discovering and seizing 112.5 kilograms of suspicious cocaine, packaged in canvas bags, from a commercial truck attempting to enter Canada via the Bridge of Peace in Fort Erie.

The estimated street value of that contraband was $ 14 million. Pardeep Singh, a LaSalle, Quebec resident, was charged with importing cocaine.
