A confrontation between workers at a plant of the Cruz Azul cement plantin the state of Hidalgo, left an as yet unconfirmed balance of eight dead and several injured, the state government reported on Wednesday.
The dispute, which also caused damage to the facilities and the burning of cars, according to authorities and videos released on social networks, would have left at least eight dead, according to local media.

The Hidalgo Attorney General’s Office “conducts site processing to determine the number of deceased and injured persons,” the bulletin added.

The confrontation, which occurred at dawn, would respond to a dispute over control of the administration of the plant, located in the municipality of Tulaabout 100 kilometers southwest of Pachuca, capital of Hidalgo.
Starting at dawn, using rockets and the factory’s whistle, active workers were summoned to defend the facilities from the attempted takeover by workers from a dissident group, in a lawsuit that has lasted more than two years, according to local sources.
Both dissidents and active workers were armed with tubes, rods and sticks, but also with firearms, according to witnesses quoted by the press.
For now, the facilities remain calm after the entry of state security forces.
