Calgary businesses can begin applying for a new COVID-19 grant program starting Tuesday.
Calgary’s Covid Business Support Program, which was approved by the city council in early September, aims to help businesses affected by the provincial Restrictions Waiver Program (REP).
A grant of $ 2,000 is available per permanent physical location on a first come, first serve basis.
There is approximately $ 5 million in funding available, money left over from a previous program that was established to help support restaurants, pubs, bars, gyms, and entertainment establishments.

“This has proven to be the most difficult quarter of the pandemic so far in many ways and we wanted to find another way to help business owners and operators,” City Manager David Duckworth said in a press release.
“After the province announced the REP a few weeks ago, we could see that compliance would mean more costs for companies. We hope that our Calgary grant can reduce some of the impact they are experiencing right now. “
