Child pornography: two offenders under the same roof

It is not one, but two sex offenders who lived under the same roof near a daycare center in Trois-Rivières.

Maurice Piperno, 75, was arrested for breach of probation last week in the Ste-Marthe-du-Cap sector in Trois-Rivières, causing consternation in the neighborhood. He would have been in a park and would have been in contact with a young person under the age of 16.

However, the one whom Mr. Piperno presented as his nephew and who lived with him, is also behind bars.

Francis Lecourt pleaded guilty last March to a charge of possession of child pornography material. He was sentenced to 12 months in prison in addition to being listed for life on the national sex offender registry.

For his part, Mauricie Piperno returned to court on Thursday. He has waived his bail hearing and will be held until the end of the judicial process.

Since 1993, the 75-year-old man has served numerous prison terms, including for assault and sexual contact with a minor, possession of child pornography and distribution of child pornography. He is also on the National Sex Offender Registry.
