Chihuahuan officials present controversy before the SCJN so that the states can acquire anticovid-19 vaccines

The local deputy in Chihuahua for Citizen Movement, Francisco Sánchez, and the municipal president of Hidalgo del Parral, César Peña, presented before the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) a constitutional controversy against what they considered a monopoly of the federal government in the purchase of vaccines against Covid-19.

“We present this controversy because the Federation has already demonstrated its inability to control the pandemic. Excluding states and municipalities from the vaccination program has generated an irresponsible delay in the application of vaccines. Thousands of people have been denied the tools to protect themselves. At the worst time we are in the worst hands, “said Francisco Sánchez.

“We seek that the application of vaccines be for everyone, with a more agile exercise and not by drops. It is not possible that we have to wait for dates determined by the government for its application, we require that there are vaccines available to everyone, Covid-19 does not respect dates, said the mayor of Parral.

Politicians asked the SCJN a judicial order (suspension) that forces the Federation to rethink the National Vaccination Strategy against Covid-19, and that allows state and municipal governments to acquire, distribute and apply vaccines, as well as the private initiative to optimize processes and guarantee the application for all people.

The document alleges that the protection of the right to health is a faculty shared among the three levels of government, while the current vaccination policy has monopolized vaccines, making it impossible for state and municipal governments to actively participate in the protection of its population.

The legal appeal filed requests that Mexican minors from the age of 5 be included in the vaccination program, by virtue of the fact that the World Health Organization (who) has already authorized its application, which in the opinion of the politicians of the Citizen Movement is necessary given the imminent return of millions of boys and girls to the classroom.

The controversy promoted by Francisco Sánchez and César Peña denounces the violation of the rights of the municipal presidency of Parral by excluding it and denying its participation in the program of vaccination against Covid-19.
