Chemical Spill at HVAC Wholesaler Contained: Kingston Fire – Kingston | The Canadian News

Kingston Fire and Rescue says a chemical spill has been contained at a local HVAC retailer.

According to the Kingston fire, the spill was reported Tuesday morning at WWG Totaline in Fortune Crescent.

Teams found a 1,000-liter bag of chemicals, a container for transporting chemicals, had a leak outside the building.

They say the chemical was sodium hydroxide, which can be found in drain and oven cleaners, and has other uses as well.

Fire crews contained the spill and contacted the Ministry of the Environment.

They say the owner has hired a private contractor to clean up the spill.
