CDMX kicks off with the Poinsettia Flower sales season

In order to boost the dynamism of the primary activities in Mexico City, local authorities gave the starting signal for the start of the Poinsettia sales season, which will be accompanied by new marketing actions.

From the mayor’s office Xochimilco, the head of government of the capital, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, announced that these new measures seek higher sales by 2021, since they want the farmers from the field are more economically benefited.

Among the new actions, it stands out to carry out the first Christmas Eve Fair in the Zócalo capital, so the date will be announced soon.

“Let’s do the Great Christmas Eve Fair of Xochimilco, of Tlalpan, of Tláhuac, of the Conservation Land of Mexico City, of the producers of the city’s countryside in the Zocalo of Mexico City,” Sheinbaum said.

“We are going to find a date after November 20, before the Christmas ornament or with the Christmas decorations and festivities that will take place in the Zócalo of the city so that there can be a sale. It is not only the sale, but the knowledge of all of Mexico City, of our country and of the whole world, that Xochimilco is great, that Tlalpan is great, that Tláhuac is great, that the entire Conservation Land is that other side. from the city ”, added the capital’s president.

By specifying that the traditional poinsettia sale in Paseo de la Reforma, the leader of the State Executive also announced that they will carry out more actions to install sales centers in different areas of the city.

“Here is the greatness of Mexico City and that greatness we are going to show in the Zócalo, in Reforma, in different places for the benefit of the inhabitants,” he said.

According to the president, this year’s production of poinsettias is also part of the 1,000 million pesos per year that have been invested in the capital’s countryside.

“In 2018, 200 million pesos were contributed and we, in 2019, 2020 and 2021 have given 1,000 million pesos each year, that is, they are 3,000 million of direct support to the field,” he said.

At the same time, he revealed that this investment will increase for next year, “we are going to give a little more than 1,000 million pesos for the benefit of the field in Mexico City.”

“Our goal is to rescue the value of this conservation land and not only seen as biodiversity, trees, plants, everything that is generated in terms of environmental services, but always thinking of people, that is what it is about” , he stated.


Without revealing the number of resources, the head of Government of Mexico City also announced that a new investment is coming for Xochimilco, to improve drainage, achieve greater resurfacing and complete the reconstruction derived from the 2017 earthquake.

“Next year we have a very important investment, in particular for Xochimilco (…) We still lack some houses to rebuild, also next year there are resources to finish them. We are going to support all the towns and particularly San Gregorio and San Luis ”, he stated.

“We are going to make a special drainage for Caltongo, so that this important area can have much cleaner channels. It is an area that also has various invasions, but the cleaning of the Xochimilco Canals is very important, “he added.
