CCE Puebla asks local authorities to allocate resources to tourism promotion

Puebla, Pue. The Business Coordinating Council (CCE) will request the state government to allocate resources from the collection of the Payroll tax (ISN) for tourism promotion and to help accelerate the economic reactivation.

Ignacio Alarcón Rodríguez Pacheco, president of the organization, indicated that in the final stretch of the year it is difficult for the administration headed by Miguel Barbosa Huerta may consider the request, however, “it is urgent to do so.”

He mentioned that the only way to promote a greater economic spill is promoting the entity as a tourist and investment destination, however, they need public resources.

He considered that a part of the collection would have to be invested in tourism promotion, where the economic effects caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Alarcón Rodríguez indicated that “if the second source of income for the state is tourism, after industry, then it has to be supported, because restaurants and hotels depend on having visitors.”

He recalled that between 2020 and the first semester of this year, 250 restaurants went bankrupt, which left a balance of 2,000 lost jobs, while in the same period, but in the hotel sector, 20 hotels closed that laid off 400 workers.

Although he admitted that the ISN is an important source of income for the state government, it is also time for tourism promotion to be a priority, because the strategy must come from the authority and not only from the service providers.
