Coronavirus Detected In Wastewater Of USU Residence Halls

LOGAN, Utah — Nearly 300 students living in on-campus housing at Utah State University will be tested for coronavirus and asked to quarantine after elevated levels of the virus were detected in wastewater coming from four resident halls. A safety alert was issued Sunday afternoon saying the samples were detected at the Rich, Jones, Morgan, and Davis Halls. Officials said wastewater testing is used to provide an early alert warning for the university to address potential cases and prevent the further spread of the virus. University health officials then announced a response plan for the affected areas, which included testing for the residents and asking them to quarantine.
