Canada Plans $ 3.6 Billion in Retaliatory Tariffs on United States in Aluminum Dispute – The Canadian News

Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland says Canada will strike back with US tariffs on Canadian aluminum at our own $ 3.6 billion tariffs. Freeland says the tariffs will match dollar-for-dollar costs of the 10 percent import duty scheduled for Canadian crude aluminum that will take effect August 16. President Donald Trump accuses Canada of breaking a promise not to flood the United States market with aluminum, an accusation that Canada and its aluminum producers say is completely false.
