SIU to begin collecting data based on the race of whistleblowers – The Canadian News

The province's police watchdog says it will soon begin collecting race-based data as part of its investigations into police-related incidents that resulted in deaths, serious injuries or allegations of sexual assault. The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) says data will be collected from whistleblowers in SIU cases on a voluntary basis. Information will also be collected in relation to the agents involved on a voluntary basis. In a statement, SIU Director Joseph Martino highlighted the importance of race-based data.
