Email Shows Apple Exec Offered Amazon Only 15% Fee on Prime Video Subscriptions

According to an email released by the House Antitrust Subcommittee, Apple executive Eddy Cue offered Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos a 15% fee on Prime Video subscriptions that signed up through the app back in 2016, which is lower than the iPhone maker’s typical 30% fee for most in-app purchases (via CNBC News). “We apply the rules to all developers evenly,” Apple CEO Tim Cook testified on Wednesday. However, the email clear suggests that big players can negotiate for better business terms on the App Store, contradicting Apple’s public stance that all apps are treated the same on its platform. Amazon Prime Video App for Windows 10 Launches in Canada

Amazon has announced it has launched a Prime Video app for users in Canada and worldwide. The Prime Video app for Windows 10 can now be downloaded from the Microsoft Store for desktop PCs, laptops and tablets. With a dedicated Prime Video app for Windows 10 users, content can now be streamed online and offline, while also offering search and in-app transactions for Prime Video Channels subscriptions and other media rentals. The Prime Video app brings the same web experience but in an app form for Windows 10 users, says Amazon. Prime Video has over 150 million paid users, according to the company.
