OnePlus Nord N10 5G Review: Not the Nord I’m Looking for

OnePlus has expanded its low-cost Nord lineup with the new N10 5G, but the second Nord phone is not the cost-effective mid-range phone that its big brother was. While this summer's Nord proved that a great phone can cost $ 600, the new N10 demonstrates which corners shouldn't be cut out when making a budget phone. When it comes to low-cost devices, the Nord N10 5G is fine, but compared to the excellent OnePlus Nord, it's a considerable disappointment. What makes this a Norse?OnePlus is making big moves by launching two new low-cost phones in the UK, with availability in North America coming at a later date. However, these phones are not worth waiting for as they don't offer much that is not covered by current low-cost phones on the North American market. The N10 5G includes an oc...

OnePlus Nord devices reportedly suffering from display tint issues

OnePlus’ newest phone, the affordable Nord, reportedly has some display tinting issues. Several user reports emerged on Reddit and the official OnePlus Forums detailing early adopters’ issues with the screen. Nord owners report that at lower brightnesses, and especially in dark mode, the display develops a green or purple tint. 9to5Google asked OnePlus about the display issues, and the company provided the following statement: “OnePlus Nord comes with a high quality 90 Hz AMOLED screen. Under specific circumstances of low brightness, a slight display discoloration [sic] may occur due to the properties of the AMOLED display – this is characteristic of all OLED displays and the degree of discoloration [sic] will vary depending on oth...

OnePlus bringing Nord-branded phone to Canada by the year’s end

As the hype for the OnePlus Nord dies down, it’s being reported that a separate Nord-branded phone will come to North America later this year. The news comes from Wired’s review of the phone, where Pei says that a Nord phone, not necessarily the same Nord that just got released, will make its way to North America before the year’s end. That’s good news for Canadians since the first Nord seems to be making quite a splash in the markets it’s already released in, and it only costs roughly $595 CAD. Since there are five months of the year left, the phone will likely come out fairly soon since the Nord hype is high right now, but only time will tell when the company plans to release the North American Nord. If you’re curious about the N...

OnePlus’ Nord looks like the new low-cost phone to beat

Look out Nokia and Motorola, because if OnePlus ever launches the Nord in Canada, it’s going almost certainly to steal the low-cost smartphone crown. To be clear, MobileSyrup hasn’t gone hands-on with the Nord yet, but based on specs and initial impressions from other reviewers around the globe, the device seems to offer a ton of value. The Nord is priced at $355 USD (roughly $477 CAD), making it cheaper than even Apple’s iPhone SE (2020), which costs $599 in Canada.Below are the confirmed specs for the OnePlus Nord:Overall, that stacks up to be an impressive phone, but only time will tell if it lasts. Looking at most of the reviews online, it seems like reviewers only got the devices today, or in some cases, last night since a...

OnePlus to send new Nord phone to 50 lucky Canadians and Americans to review

The OnePlus Nord has arrived. But not in Canada. Except… Maybe it has? After announcing the phone via an augmented reality (AR) event, OnePlus shared a post on its community forum noting that 50 people in the U.S. and Canada can apply to join a beta program. “We’re giving 50 people in the United States and Canada the chance to put Nord through its paces,” reads the post. Dubbed the ‘OnePlus Nord Beta Program,’ the company says it wants these 50 testers to “put Nord through its paces.” There will be two parts to the program for those who get in. The first is a feedback form provided by OnePlus. The company says it hopes the form will “fuel a constructive dialogue about where [it] can take the product line in the future.” The second ...

OnePlus Nord event kicking off now, here’s how to watch

OnePlus will launch its newest smartphone via an augmented reality (AR) stream. The launch is set to kick off at 9:30am ET and for many will be the first official time they see the phone. Of course, OnePlus has released a steady drip of information over the last few weeks and, combined with all the leaks, we’ve already got a pretty good idea of what’s coming.Unfortunately, the OnePlus Nord won’t come to Canada — a disappointing turn of events considering the phone’s very Canadian-style branding. OnePlus is also expected to unveil the OnePlus Buds true wireless earbuds at the event. The OnePlus Buds will be the company’s first foray into true wireless. If the leaks are accurate, they could be excellent competitors with Apple’s A...

OnePlus Nord name means ‘True North,’ still not coming to Canada…

OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei has been sharing some details about the upcoming OnePlus Nord smartphone, and it sounds terrific, but it’s not coming to Canada. In an interview with TechRadar, Pei explains why the company decided to jump back into the mid-range phone space while also explaining some of the specs and features people can expect from  The Nord. Since the phone isn’t going to go on sale in Canada, I’m going to run through what Pei shared very briefly, but if you want more info, the TechRadar interview is really great. Some people have been asking what the Nord name means. It comes from the concept of true north. We each have this inner compass that guides us. This product line reminds us to always search for our true nort...
