Toronto police have charged a man and a woman in a year-long fraud investigation dubbed Project Cosmo that allegedly involved a cosmetic Ponzi scheme targeting the Filipino community in North York and elsewhere in the GTA. Police say the investigation focused on several fraudulent companies, Mac Glamor Ltd., Infy Trading Incorporated, and B + E investments. Police allege that Mac Glamor recruited victims to register second mortgages, loans, cash and other stocks to invest in the future of the company. Investors were reportedly lured in with promises of large payouts that never materialized. Police say the alleged scammers scammed investors out of more than $ 3.5 million. A man was seriously injured in a shooting in North York on Thursday night. Police responded to several calls for a shooting in the Falstaff and Springview avenues area shortly after 11:30 pm Callers reported hearing multiple shots fired, and people reportedly screamed and fled the area. There were also reports of vehicles fleeing the area. Police found a male victim who was suffering from gunshot wounds and his injuries are considered serious. Two children were rushed to hospital after a stabbing in the city’s west end on Saturday.Paramedics responded to the stabbing call in an apartment at a building near Finch Ave. and Weston Rd. around 10:15 a.m.“We had a report of a stabbing of a male and female child,” EMS Deputy Com. Evert Steenge said Saturday. “They were taken to hospital in serious condition.”The injured toddlers were taken to Sick Kids hospital via an emergency run with injuries that were considered life-threatening.
