Google fully implements ‘Guest Mode’ on all Nest home devices

Google's privacy-focused 'guest mode' is finally available for all of your Assistant-enabled devices. This function is a simplified version of the wizard without custom results. Leaked pictures reveal new Google Home successor with refreshed design

We could soon get a successor to the Google Home smart speaker, according to details obtained from a recent FCC filing. 9to5Google spotted the filing, which initially included a model number (GXCA6), an FCC ID, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth details and the name ‘Wireless Device.’ It wasn’t immediately clear which device it was. Further, the model number didn’t fit with any of Google’s existing product lines, with ‘G’ models typically representing Pixel phones and ‘H’ usually seen on smart speakers and displays. Google Assistant is getting home/away triggers with ‘presence detections’

Google announced at the Smart Home Virtual Summit that it’s looking to expand on Google Assistant’s capability. The search engine company said it is approaching this at the primary-developer focused presentation by adding new features. The announcement is consistent with Google’s stance last year when it said it would be winding down the Works with Nest developer program. The company is currently focusing on Google Assistant as an alternative. One possible feature for this alternative is a ‘home/away’ status for automatically triggering smart device routines.
